As 2017 draws to a close, we wanted to update you on our achievements this year in protecting Crystal Spring from destructive development. Click here to read our full end of year update.
We have succeeded in blocking this massive development so far, but major challenges remain. New plans were filed to destroy 40 acres of mature Priority Forest and build not only a large senior-living community of 383 residences, but also as many as 144 non-age restricted homes. Think of the natural destruction, pollution to our air and waters, and increased traffic from 600 more residents. Think of driving on the already dangerously overcrowded Forest Drive corridor if this project moves forward.
The good news is, with your support, we have succeeded against all odds in blocking this project. Citizen opposition has made the approval of this development a major issue in the City. However, the developers are pressing ahead and their plans are now before the City for approval.
We are hard at work on your behalf every day, but to protect our natural heritage and quality of life, we must rely on your donations to our Crystal Spring Legal Defense Fund. That’s because these efforts come at a huge financial cost. We must raise significant amounts for costs associated with fighting this development, including paying our land use attorney and our communications director.
So please, as 2017 comes to a close, will you help us succeed by making a fully tax-deductible donation today? We would like to thank those who have already sent in donations as we work to replenish our funds in order to press our case against deep-pocketed developers and their attorneys and engineers.

Your contribution is critical as we work to convince our new Mayor and City Council to stand up to developers who put profit and self-interest over the rights of residents trying to protect our environment and our quality of life. Our success would not be possible without your support.
Wishing you and your families the best for a wonderful holiday and a safe and happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Gerald Winegrad and The Stop Crystal Spring Team
