Capital LTE: “Seniors DO drive”

Capital Gazette: Letters to the Editor, May 20, 2017

I read with interest reports on the March meeting at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church on the Village at Providence Point proposal, conducted by Larry Bradshaw, particularly his comments that “residents in their mid-70s, typically, don’t drive.”

Next month I will turn 77. My wife is not far behind. We own two cars. One was purchased several years ago, another purchased two weeks ago.

We enjoy these vehicles in our driveway. They add much to the beautiful neighborhood scenery. We get much enjoyment pushing the buttons, watching the lights go on and off, and hearing the clicks. To really add to this experience, sometimes we pop the trunks open! To really enhance our enjoyment of these cars, we sometimes add or eliminate radio stations.

When we need an exceptional experience, we spend time — not much — figuring out how our friend and former neighbor, Janet Richardson-Pearson, can find a buffoon like Mr. Bradshaw.
